Lottie smiled. He was so sweet, and so prepared. Totally. "Listen, Dirk, let me just buy you a drinky, my treat! Everybody waits on me, I need to treat you. Anyway, you've done enough. Falcon man, as you are." Lottie chuckled. She took of her helmet, and, contradictory to her mini speech, she said, "on the other hand, I am saving for new horse gear......." Lotttie put her arm around him, and pulled him towards the pizza place. She could smell the ready baked pizza bases already. "Hey, Dirk, I've just recieved a voice mail message, from my parents," reported Lottie, happily. "It's about a hack on dartmoor tomorrow, all day. On the horses, ponies, whatever. I'll be riding Cobweb, of course, a novice horse. Not too much trouble, just want tp relax and have fun really. But me and my parents, to repay you for the cinema and that, are feeling obliged to let you join us. In fact, we'd love you to come and try out our new pony, Dusty. She's a Shire horse, with a lovely temperament, but a bit boisterous. You'd have to shiorten the reign a bit to gain control, but it should be nice."

Dirk rolled his eyes and smiled. "Fine, but I'll buy us refreshments for the cinema." Dirk became rigid as she put her arm around him, but he was used to it by the time they reached pizza hut - even began to like her company, and affectionate gestures towards him.
As she mentioned the voice mail message he panicked they'd changed their minds about them. But, to both his horror and pleasant surprise, it was about inviting him out the following day. "Well... I don't see why not. Though I have to say, I doubt it'll be anything like a motorbike." A hack on dartmoor sounded nice, even if he couldn't ride.
Dirk got them a table for two by the window and ordered some orange juice for himself. "What do you want?" He asked Lottie. "For the meal, can I have one margherita pizza and..?" Dirk looked to Lottie expectantly.

Lottie smiled. "Well, it is a bit more difficult than a motorbike, but kinda the same, the position and stuff. You'll like it." Lottie sat herself down opposite to Dirk, and looked out of the window. It was growing dark, but only a dim light settled as they ordered. "Um, I quite like margheritah as well, if that's ok, please. Thanks." She started to count the beads of her new necklace, and twiddled her fingers. She started to think of sometyhing that she had wanted to ask Dirk, but it was too personal, far fetched, rude, you know. But it kept pestering her. A lot. "Dirk," Lottie started, "How old are you, and, what's your family like?" Ok, this wasn't her question. But she had lost confidence the minute their eyes had met. He was so beautiful, like an elf. "Oh, I heard of a great film. The Avatar. It's meant to amazing. Wouild you like to watch it?"

Dirk raised an eyebrow. "Two margerhitas, a coke and orange juice?" Dirk told the waiter and he nodded and hurried off.
"Hmm. I couldn't imagine sitting on an animal the way I sit on my bike," Dirk laughed. He noticed she looked anxious. "Are you ok?"
When she asked him a question he shrugged. "Just about eighteen. My family are German, kind, generous... but grumpy I prefer England to Germany. Though I don't see why you can't use Euros over here, would make my life a whole lot easier. I have to shove all my Euros into a piggy bank." Dirk pulled a face of false despair then laughed.
"Hmm I saw that advertised too. Sounds cool. Tell you what, you wait for the food, and I'll run in and get the tickets. Eight o' clock showing, is that alright?" Dirk suggested, standing up.

Lottie laughed, and raised her eyebrows. "Um, is mine the coke, or the orange juice?" she said, laughing. "Nah, don't worry, I love both." Lottie was really excited about tomorrow. It was hoped to be a sunny day. She pondered if Dirk would be able to handle Dusty, a quite out of control sort of horse. But she was lovely. "Well,an animal isn't really any different. Just remember that you must always control the horse or pony, and give it clear instructions. It is never the animal's fault if the horse does something wrong, it is always the riders. I am very cautious of the hind legs now, because back along, I was kicked. It hurts a lot, and it still hurts a bit today, but you'll be fine. Don't worry about it, Dusty will love you, and I'll teach you how to tack up if you like. You can even help to choose the route."
Lottie smiled. "Yeah, I'm ok." As he blabbered about himself, she listened, intrigued. She pulled a face at the euros, though, she had to admit. "I'm not particuarly fond of euros. What is it again? What equals a pound? 5 euros? Haven't a clue. Never been abroad, never want to." Lottie laughedat this, but smiled reassuringly. "Not that Germany's ot great, I bet it so is. Totally. But England rocks," she added. Lottie pulled his arm back as he got up to get the tickets. "Yeah, that's ok, but I want to get home before late, you know. Um, ok, hurry back though, because our order might come soon. Hey, have you got your mobile on you? I can give you a ring if it does." Lottie smiled. This was a little trick to get his phone number, as it would be nice to stay in touch.

Dirk raised an eyebrow. I rest my case, he though. The whole of Europe bar a few countries used Euros, and Lottie didn't even know what they worth. Tut tut.
He sighed as she asked for his mobile. "I'm a fast eater, so even if I only have five minutes I can devour a pizza easily," Dirk laughed but wrote down his number on her hand. "There." He huffed and headed out of the restaurant, jacket slung over his shoulder. He went in and bought the tickets, then started to head back. He was fond of Lottie, she was a nice girl. A bit melodramatic, but still very nice.

Lottie smiled proudly as she managed to get his number. "Thanks, Dirk. Hope it doesn't wash off in the rain." She laughed. "See ya, but try and get popcorn too. It's scrumptious! Thanks." As Lottie sat and waited, she got her phone out and began to type in his details. She murmered to herself. Dirk was a nice boy, she liked him, but she bet he thought og=f her rather a melodramatic person. As she pressed the "save" button on her mobile phone, her phone started to ring the tune "Wild Horses", by Natasha Bedingfield. She loved that song. "Hi, oh hey, mum!" She said, pleasantly surprised. "Yeah, we're doing absolutely fine. Dirk's gone to get the cinema tickets. We're going to see the avatar." Lottie's smile grew as her mum spoke. "A horse camp! Going across the Plain? Wow! Yeah, thanks mum! Can Dirk come? Yeah, he'll sleep in the spare bed in the caravan. Far from me, ha. Wow, great, thanks! See you mum!" Lottie flappee her phone down happily, waiting for Dirk. She was really happy to ask him to come along, and her friend Cami might be coming along. She was not letting him refuse this offer, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity! She started to watch out the window for Dirk.

Dirk hurried back into the warm of the restaurant, to see a grinning Lottie. He smiled back at her and showed her the tickets, then put them in his pocket. Just then, the food and drinks arrived, and he took the orange juice and one of the pizzas for himself, then offered the other pizza and coke to Lottie. "I'll get us some snacks for the cinema later, considering we already have the tickets now." Dirk explained then started eating, checking his watch. "Ah, we got an hour or so yet. Take your time," he reported.

Lottie smiled at him and laughed. "Guess what, Dirk?!? My parents have invited you vto go on our horse camp tomorrow. It was going to be a hack, but now we're going to ride across the 30 mile plain, taking up a time of one week. We have a caravan and horse transport equipment, so you can sleep in a spare room. Can you come?" Lottie said, eagerly. She looked at her Margaheritah pizza, and started to use her knife and fork to eat the gooey cheese and tomaro toppings. "Yummy, this is lovely." She started to plan the camping trip in her head, happilly. They would probably have to canter for a bit, but she was sure Dirk would do it easily. "Thanks for the orange juice. Good, we have plenty of time, then. Maybe you could add my number to your mobile phone?" Lottie started to write it down on a piece of paper, and handed it to him. "You know, maybe for the hack we'll need to contact each other if we get lost. There's lots of wildlife, so we'd have to be careful, but that's not a problem. Halfway through the hack, my mum and dad might have lunch back at the camp, so we could ride and practise stuff with the animals, if you like. Oh, and by the way," Lottie said, grinning, "Cami, my best friend, is coming, too. She's sixteen, but only a month older than me. She's sp adventorous, aswell."
Picking up her glass of orange juice, she took out one of the ice cubes inside it, laughing, and began to eat it. "I'm weird, I love eating ice cubes." Then she became normal again, and began to drink her orange juice. Her glance caught the outside area outside the window, and Lottie saw that it was snowing. Her eyes lit up in glee. She loved snow! "Dirk, wow, look, it's snowing! We could hurry up and eat and drink here and that, pay the bill, and play out in the snow! What a delight! Amazing!" Lottie patted his arm, and said, more logical, "Oh, but you can put the motor bike in the sheltered car park, where it won't get damaged. On second thoughts, won't it get snowed in? But my mum and dad always pour cold water over the ice when that happens, and we could always walk to the cinema, it's only around the corner by the looks of things. I dunno where it is. Ok, sorry for blabbering on, you speak about your plans."

Dirk raised an eyebrow. "A week? Uh... I wasn't overly keen on going for a few hours, let alone a week. Besides, don't you have school? I have a job anyway so..."
Dirk looked away as she drunk his orange juice, assuming it was hers. He frowned and stared at the coke. He didn't feel hungry suddenly. "Look, there's a massive age gap between us. I like you, don't get me wrong, just... go a bit slower, ok?" He put her number in his pocket. As it started to snow he smiled. "You go out, I'll pay. And my bike will be fine. It won't snow enough to cause any problem in any case," Dirk finished eating his slice of pizza then called for the waiter and payed the bill.

Lottie frowned. She was at school, but this was education anyway. And the school wouldn't mind a holiday. Dirk didn't have to come, he was just invited. "Dirk, you should have said no in the first place. It's ok, we've told the school." Lottie felt a little astonised at his wise words, to slow down a little bit. She wasn't in any hurry. She wasn't even considering what he was thinking. And he invited her here in the first place. "Dirk, I'm not after that. I just want to be friends. I know there's like a huge age difference between us, totally. I'm seeing my sister tomorrow, anyway, in the morning, and we're picking up our dog. So I'll see you in a week." She started to put her things away at the bit where he said play oustide, but she got a message on her phone, from Cami. "I can't wait to meet your boyfriend, Lottie." It read. Lottie glared at the text message. Ringing Cami up hastily, she rushed, "Dirk isn't coming, it's just the way we planned originally. You'll meet him sometime. Oh, and he's not my boyfriend." So she walked out, smiling at Dirk politely, agreeing to wait outside whilst he payed officiantly.

Dirk glared at her. "Well, to be polite I agreed, but a week is too long. I have college and a job."
He raised an eyebrow I she replied to his comment about their age difference. "And I didn't mean it that way. I just get the feeling you're expecting something from me, like a relationship," he was starting to get annoyed now. He payed for the food and drink, finished the coke and headed outside, unnerved by the bitter cold despite only having a thin t-shirt and combat trousers on.
"Come on, I don't want to miss the film," he snapped.
